Tourism & Events
The City, the Watkinsville Trade and Tourism Association (WTTA) (which is made up of city merchants), the Oconee Chamber of Commerce, the Oconee County Office of Tourism, the Oconee County Board of Education, and the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) sponsor many events aimed at not only bringing visitors into the city, but also ensuring they want to come back again and again.
From April through December, the WTTA and the city sponsors First Saturday which is traditional family fun with free popcorn, free hayrides, antique tractors, and activities for children. This event brings approximately 200 to 300 visitors into the city every month. Our many art shows and events bring thousands into Watkinsville over any given year.
The Chamber hosts the Fall Festival, which is an art, craft and food extravaganza, every October. This event is held on historic Rocket Field in front of OCAF. Last year the festival brought 240 vendors and over 24,000 visitors into our city.
Oconee County High School holds its Homecoming Parade on Main Street each spring, which brings many students, parents and school supporters to our Downtown area.
We may be a small city, but we are a festive one. View our calendar to see our upcoming events!
